St. Croix Foundation

Five years ago, the AED Fund was established at the St. Croix Foundation when our personal AED was used to save a life. With the help of the community, we have raised funds to purchase 34 AEDs to place across the island. Our fire and police personnel are trained in AED/CPR/First Aid. Senator Sammuel Sanes has been instrumental in getting his office to locate all the AEDs on St. Croix. It is becoming known as "The Island with a Heart."

Ashbourne Cardiac First Responders

Ashbourne Cardiac First Responders is a community first responder programme that aims to improve survival rates for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Staffed by trained and certified volunteers, ACFR supports the national ambulance service by responding alongside the ambulance to serious medical calls especially cardiac arrest. Covering the 14,500 people within a 3km radius around the town first responders aim to reach any address in 5 to 8 minutes. This brings skilled CPR and an AED for early defibrillation much sooner than the ambulance can arrive.

First Aid Corps

First Aid Corps is a coalition of individuals, companies and volunteers who are seeking to improve the survival rates from sudden cardiac arrests. The volunteers are trained to provide first aid, especially cardiopulmonary resuscitation with automated external defibrillators, to their families and neighbours who have collapsed from unknown reasons. By forming FACTs (First Aid Corps Teams), they aim to increase the sudden cardiac arrest survival rate from the current 2% to at least a double digit and promote social bonding and cohesion with a common goal in the community.

Redditch Heart Safe

Redditch Heart Safe believes that venues should be installed with potentially lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators. When a sudden cardiac arrest occurs, the casualty is usually relying on the ambulance service and first responders, and although they try their best, they can be a fair distance away from the scene.

Idaho AED Initiative

Idaho AED Initiative was founded in 2013. Their goals are to increase AED location awareness, encourage bystander CPR and AED use during sudden cardiac arrest, inform their communities about how to obtain further education regarding basic first aid, CPR, and AED use, and to encourage public access defibrillator placement in populated areas within the community. They give basic CPR and AED presentations in the community while encouraging people to take more in-depth classes from organizations like the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
